First Product! The Canon Digital IXUS 80 IS

Basically, I wanted a camera.

Something small, light and technically capable ("good").

I spent ages looking around at various cameras in various price ranges, nothing really stood out. Then I saw the IXUS 80 IS. At just 8.7 cm x 2.2 cm x 5.5 cm (WxDxH) and weighing only 125g, it fitted the first two criteria perfectly. And technically capable? Oh yes. An excellent 8MP Canon CCD, 3X optical zoom and Canon's brilliant "Image Stabilization" system - which can adjust it's own lens up to 4,000 times per second to eliminate blur! And the list doesn't end there, it goes on and on and on...

Frankly, it's a great camera. It sits in my coat pocket all day every day - I barely notice it's there. Until you want to take a picture. Never mind using the shoddy camera on my T-Mobile G1 (mobile phone), bust out the IXUS. Fantastic quality pictures every time.

Anyway, this isn't a sales pitch or a review site - plenty of those available on Google. Buy it if you want, I was just saying I did - and I like it a lot.

There's plenty of places you can get it, from your local Currys/Comet/etc to loads of independent websites selling it. Prices vary.

But this site stood out from the Google search:

www.ixus80.co.uk

These guys not only have all the information on this great camera available laid out right in front of you, they also have this rather nifty price checking script. It automatically searches over 30 online vendors (including websites for offline vendors) to find you the best price, and takes you straight there.

I spent about 3 days looking for this camera, and I wish I'd found this site first. I couldn't beat the price, and they are doing 50% off!

So, if you want a Canon Digital IXUS 80 IS, you know where to find it.

See you when I find my next gem!

The Tight Scotsman.
